XMAS SHOPPING
I was reading with interest yesterday, that it's expected that the amount of people intending to buy christmas gifts via the internet will be a record amount.
This freaks me out a little. Why are people so willing to handover their credit card details?? I mean, you wouldn't leave your front door unlocked when you go shopping, your car unlocked?? So why are you willing to expose your details to the world? The increase in "phishing" cases before the courts is expanding around the world. For those who are not aware, phishing is when a dummy web site is created to look exactly like one you'd use to do your banking, buy your purchases. Many can't tell the difference, type in their credit cards details , banking details and eventually the site is taken down, you are none the wiser till its too late........bank account sucked dry, credit cards to the max.
Admittedly, i have been known to buy things on line. I have a few favorite stores i buy from, and i know what to look for. I still freak at having to do it. I know many people don't even have virus protection or firewalls yet still buy on line. Your playing russian roulette........simple.

It all depends on what merchants you are working with. The key is whether their security is up to snuff.
Jack~ witty as always!!
Brian~ I love shopping but i hate crowds and being rushed. I like to take my time and make a day of it...stopping for a few strong coffees along the way. I try to avoid buying on the net, however on the odd occasion i guess i have to.
Jack's Shack ~ Welcome! Agreed, many merchants themselves are forever being ripped off too. i think there needs to be a type of data base....full of dodgey merchants/retailers and credit cards!
Indeed Jack! Count me in. I had the first taste of the xmas shopping experience today...urrrghhhh....people p me off when they stand in front of stuff...or worse....2 women chatting in the middle of a walkway...I HATE THAT!! You can't get passed, then they look at you like you have 2 heads when you squeeze past em!
