Hostage Freed

Joyful scenes as Douglas Woods, the Australian (now living in America for 12 years) hostage, held in Iraq, was released and allowed to go home. He now has to take time to heal after his 6 week ordeal.
The amount of planning that must have gone into freeing him, has to be frightening. The Australian government needs to be applauded in their efforts, as does the American forces and the Iraq's themselves.
I was watching the footage of him getting off the plane at Sydney, reuniting with 2 of his brothers, it was very emotional.
Ok, so why did i choose this particular topic to talk about? Well, today Mr Woods has signed a 6 figure contract with a televsion network here in Oz. You see, to me, this is really a rort. Ok, Mr Woods isn't a criminal writing a book and gaining from the sales. However, WE the tax payer and the Aussie govt, shelled out millions to get this guy freed. Aussie and American troops risked their lives for A man, who was in Iraq as a civillian engineer because the money to be made was "incredible", a man who has been living in California for the last 12 years.
See, it doesn't wash with me how a person is able to make a fortune by interviews and book deals. I'm sorry he was held hostage, it's dreadful, no one should have to go through that. However if your going to make money from interviews, books and movies, surely you would feel a little obliged to pay or donate it back.
Knowing it cost millions to save your life, wouldn't your conscience get the better of you and donate that money back? OR,
am i being unreasonable and let the man make half a million bucks from an interview, pocket it. He even said in an interview i saw ,he was considering going back to Iraq!!!

till next time, Michelle.
