What's in a name?
On Friday, i had a number of files on my desk i wanted to try and sort through, secretly praying that all these clients matters would be heard in the next few sittings. I wanted to provide some reassurance to them that they had not been forgotten about and apologise for the "systems" lengthy process.
Reading through and looking at some of names bought back memories of my days at school.
I went to school with many kids who had weird (well i thought so, and still do) names. It makes you wonder what the parents were thinking. Could they not decide before the birth, did they not string the name together and then say it, did they not ask advice from others, were they so unimaginative that they used part of their last name, were they so caught up in the euphoria of the birth they couldn't think?
Poor Michael Pandick or "Mick Pandick" or to us 4th graders "Saucepan Arse"! I felt sorry for those kids with repetitive names, John Johnson, Peter - Paul Peterson, Rita Meter, Roger Rogerson, Jill Dill, Clair Hare.
Then there were the kids that had sexual connotations to their names....Fanny ( in Australia our Fanny is the opposite of the American version) Peesover, Richard Small or "Tiny Dick" to us 6th graders!
I wonder where you all are today, and if you took care in naming your own children?
till next time, Michelle.
