Never a Dull Moment!

Iwanted to post this last night, however i started wilting quite early and there is nothing worse, as i'm sure you all have experienced, trying to write when your tired.
I don't really talk in specifics too much about the cases i'm working on, specifically due to privacy issues and i never reveal names when i do speak of different matters i am invloved with. So, what am i eluding to? One of the cases i am working with at the moment. To give a you a run down, there are 4 girls ( aged 14-16), 2 of whom are claiming to have been raped by the defendant (21),one girl claims to have witnessed one of the rapes as it was her sister and she too was sharing the bed!, one girl (17), has been in a relationship with him for 18 months, both living at her mums house, she claims all sex ha been consentual ( laws in oz say sex at 16 and 21 is still carnal knowledge due to her age) and in the last few months the gal has given birth to a baby.
Have i got you? Do you understand the story so far? OK.

Well, it's been 18 months since all the charges came to light. The defendant has been in jail this whole time without being convicted. Now without going into too much detail, i believe the whole thing is a scam made up by 3 of the girls, whom are all friends and a jelousy thing has got out of hand. One girl quickly wanted to drop the charges once she found out there was no money in going to court! Anyhow, it went up for committal 2 months ago, there was not enough evidence so it was adjourned. It's up again tomorrow!

Dilemma at the moment...........my client with the baby was payed a visit by welfare. They put the fear into her with threats of removing the baby etc.
Now remember, the defendant has no priors, he hasn't been convicted, and been in jail for 18 months!
Is there something wrong with this picture????? OR Do you think they are right in wanting to keep the baby away from the father?
Well i am of to find a decent Family Law Lawyer for my client!
