Shoplifting

SHOPPING day takes on a whole new meaning when you follow the exploits of a brazen serial thief , which is what i spent my time doing today. His casual arrogance turned a 20-minute visit to a suburban shopping centre into a one-man crime wave.
The thief will appear in court but the vast majority go undetected, unconvicted or unpunished.
The number of culprits caught is infinitesimal compared with the number of shop-stealing offences reported, and that reporting rate probably does not reflect the true level of theft.
Little wonder retailers despair when confronted with the sort of cool criminality reported. And little wonder they believe a culture of tolerance encourages shoplifting.
That tolerance level for theft is dependent on the quite bizarre notion that shoplifting hurts no one.
Retailers and honest shoppers who must ultimately pay the cost of theft know there is no such thing as a victimless crime.
till next time, Michelle.
