Today my father would have been celebrating his 68th birthday if he were still alive, Happy Birthday Dad.

A US military panel today found Private Lynndie England found guilty of six of seven counts of mistreating Iraqi prisoners at the Abu Ghraib jail near Baghdad.The panel of five officers found her not guilty of conspiring to maltreat a prisoner in the incident which made her infamous - holding the leash tied to the neck of a naked prisoner.
A sentencing hearing was to start later in the day.
She faces up to 10 years in prison.
Well there's no surprises there given the results of the other officers hearings.



A MELBOURNE man who shot dead a L-plate motorcyclist in a road rage murder has lost an appeal against his 20 year jail term.Thomas Ivanovic, 30, was jailed in 2003 after a confrontation outside his suburban Brunswick home in which he fatally shot 38-year-old Ivan Conabere with an unregistered pistol.
Ivanovic had appealed against his murder conviction and the severity of his sentence - which includes a 15-year non-parole period - but this was rejected today by Victoria's Court of Appeal.
