Don't blame the Staff!

It never ceases to amaze me how rude and obnoxious some people can be. Today i went to the bank to drop some forms off. In my particular bank, there are around 6 tellers handling normal banking needs and around 4 handling other financial matters. Now, on a Friday or a pension day you know the bank will be full of elderly people ( oooo is that racist!?) and it is the norm for the bank to be quite busy.
Today was no exception. I walk in and get in the line. Infront of me was 4 other people. Directly in front was a guy around 23 or so. He spent the whole time pacing like wild animal....huffing and puffing. A guy behind me 60ish was whinging and complaining about lack of service. I was listening to the tellers greeting customers in a friendly manner, nothing too much trouble.
One of the men in front of me was called over. Well, if i were the teller i would of shoved his damn cards straight up where the sun don't shine. You should of heard this rude prick. He was yelling at the girl, and she kept her cool and spoke to him in a soft voice trying calm him down. She carried on and asked him questions re his account etc. He just kept mouthing off. It was my turn to hand my forms over to another teller. Still this old prick was going on and on.
Why is it people abuse sales staff? I know we all have our bad days, but to carry on like this old bastard. I swear, if i am lucky enough to get old..ok older..lol i hope to god i don't have such a cynical attitude. That my demenour will be pleasant and that my face is not full of wrinkles from frowning and i don't have a mouth that resembles a cats arse.
Sales staff are the bottom end of the rung so to speak. They are pad a pittence for the crap thats dealt to them. They have the worst job trying to keep customers satisfied even when the customer is clearly wrong. They are told to smile and treat the customer with respect, well what about the other way round. If there are problems, its usually at the managerial end, yet these guys/girls never get to see the customer.

I shall tell you a few of my retail stories in the next post.....trust me people, i have seen it all!!!!

Excellent point about manners in our society. In my lifetime, I've worked many jobs from retail to waitressing to the professional "edj-ya cated ones", but the commonalities are that too many people take out their frustrations on others, whether they be clerks, secretaries, teachers, doctors, or road rage! My puter worked long enough to get a sunset pic up for you :)

I to have worked from sales to waitressing. I have lost a lot of jobs due to the customers being rude. They say the customer is always right.. OK lets just say that in my opinion, all that food and drinks were not wasted. I might have gotten fired. But I deserve to be treated better and they found that out. hence to say. I try never to be rude unless they are rude first.

i have seen idiot customers all over the earth. ah, but visit new york, my friend. the customers aren't half as rude as the person behind the counter. i could regale you with stories about hateful wait staff, mean-spirited subway conductors, and (worst of all) people who work at drug stores. For some reason, ny drug stores only hire the rudest, most spiteful, and incompetent people on earth. you don't dare talk back to them, they may strangle you.
