My Brain leans toward the Left!!

You Are 70% Left Brained, 30% Right Brained

The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.

Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.

If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.

Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.

Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.

If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.

Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

hey, michelle...almost the exact polar opposite: 75% right-sided...maybe that's why I can't balance my checkbook.

Ah, you've picqued my interest. Friends who knew me *very* well (and family, professors) describe me as the exception to the rule. I've not been formally tested, although certain people want to: so I've been described as 50/50 or 100/100 in that they feel i'm equally left and right-brained.

I don't think anything is statically "equal." However, that is a different dissertaion. :) For me, I've known that I'm "both brained, very closely because I often endure a headache, when both sides of my brain vie for dominance. (If Mags if reading this I'm NOT talking about S & M! ;). Ok: I will take the quiz but I am sure I will question most of it, both from a logical viewpoint and a creative one. Fun Fri, post Michelle! :) (well, it's fri here when i'm reading it.)

Ok dokey- I took the quiz twice. First time I took it thinking right brain, but BOTH Times I disagree with several answer choices that were there, b/c I wouold have chosen either one EQUALLY! That is my dilemna....

So: 1st time came out as most bloggers would think of me b/c you dont' know the "other side" of me, since i've refrained from posting advanced mathematical concepts that would bore most of the population to tears:
30% Left/ 70 % right

Second Time: I took it as if I had had a choice on certain questions...still not accurate but closer to what I know is the case:

60% Left/40%Right

Will let you know when my book comes out on this topic. Seriously, I research it...

i'm supposedly 30 L /70 R, which makes no sense whatsover, because i want quiet, i want to read, i want lots of mind-altering substances to make the pain in my head go away and go away.

The results were odd. Usually, I come out almost equal with one side just a smidge higher mostly depending on the mood I'm in. This test says I'm 75% right brained. While, yes, I'm creative and visually inclined, I'm more swayed by logic than emotion. In fact, my friends used to call me Spock (after the famous Vulcan on Star Trek, not the doctor of the famous baby books) because of that.

I just knew you'd all be blessed with right sided brains!!!
My "stick figure" drawings were enough for me to know that i'd be left side dominant.
When i look at you all, your all brilliant writers, creative and thoughtful people, something i am not, although i do have my good points..LOL. Seriously though, what interests me is the 50/50 type brain. I really don't think i'd like that..why? well wouldn't it mean you don't excel in one or two areas, that your average at everything in your life? See i figure being one side dominant that your extra special in one or two areas....my story and i'm sticking to it..LOL

Hi Michelle,
No, being "50/50" or 100/100 is not boring. I prefer to term it the latter because it is not 1/2 excelling in one or the other. Rather it is *equal* dominance, which is often referred to as excelling or knack. It is rare, and a gift that those of us who have it should cherish.

I agree w/ E. prophet's comment that it depends on one's mood. For me it also depends on the circumstances. When I'm in an ER situation, I often use much left-brain activity but some right brain could kick in, if the "normal" tools or needs were not available for the ER sittuation. Being equally dominant is not lessening. It's empowering. It's also quite draining!

I took the quiz twice to try to prove to you w/ this inadequate quiz my point of equal or near equal dominance. What you see on my blog is writing and 'creativity" that I've chosen to share. I am capable of writing research where you'd have no idea I'm an artist. I'm also capable of teaching and solving mathematical data that could bore many. I chose the focus of my blog to be more right-brained, but not because the right is more important to the left.

This is an area of brain research far more complex than you have summarized it. I touched on that in my initial comment. One internet quiz is a grossly insufficient statistical tool, as is the blog population who visits you, as is a number of other critical factors.

I think you realized you are left-brained before you took this quiz. Many who are heavily dominant one way or the other already know, particulary since there has been much hype to bring out the creative right brain side for normally left brainers, via corporate or teaching workshops, etc. Thinking out of the box became a more common phrase in the last 10 years.

Well, I'm putting a lid on my fingers so there is room left on your blog. This still was a fun acitivity, but not one to draw conclusions from. Also, dear Michelle, there is much to be said for being left-brain dominant. :)
Equally geeky,

60% left, but I knew that already. I figure by the time we reach a "certain age," we have a pretty good idea of our strengths and weaknesses and the way our brains work.

GEL~ Good point, 50/50 and excel both sides.
For me personally, the way the questions are worded mood would have nothing to do with the way i scored. I knew before hand as EP has mentioned, that i would be left side majority. LOL i never change.
Yep, the quiz is a fun thing to do. But i will stick to my own nuerological research when it comes to evidence :)

Michelle, you're a good researcher. The **outstanding** breadth of your blog, written coherently, intelligently, and with that "extra something" is what attracted me here from the first time I laid my green eyes on one of your posts.Your expertise in writing and topic choices drew me like a magnet to metal, or like a honey- coated "doughnut" covered only in powder, oozing "come hither" to a bear who has not returned home to his cave. The latter sentence means
New readers, read Michelle's recent post on sin , but I'd recommend reading the entire blog! That is what I did the first and second nights I came here.

GEL~ Your waaaaaaay too kind. I just like to post interesting topics.sometimes fun..contreversial..to get people communicating and sharing their thoughts etc. Things that are occuring globally that we can all chat about. Face it, most of us have an opinion on a broad range of topics, i just like to read them all :)
