Woman nine times the limit: courtSeptember 24, 2004
A MELBOURNE woman accused of crashing her car while nearly nine times above the legal blood alcohol limit has been charged with reckless conduct endangering serious injury.Leanne Fay Bartelson, 44, had a blood alcohol concentration of .448 when she turned in front of oncoming traffic on Somerton Road, near her Roxburgh Park home, about 9.40am (AEST) on May 14, police allege.
She allegedly hit another car, leaving a woman trapped for about 30 minutes.
While no one was seriously injured, Bartelson was taken to hospital after complaining of soreness.
Blood tests at hospital revealed an alcohol reading among the highest recorded in Victoria in the past decade, a police spokeswoman said.

Her licence was suspended immediately.
It is understood Bartelson told police she did not remember how she became so drunk, but recalled stopping at a bottleshop in the hours before the crash.
Bartelson briefly faced Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court today charged with reckless conduct endangering serious injury and three drink-driving charges related to the accident.
Magistrate Ross Betts told Bartelson she should speak to a legal aid lawyer before decided how she would plead.
Mr Betts ordered she reappear in court on October 15.

CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW SHE PLEADS!!!
