Top Ten Favorite Aussie Movies

THOSE little people have come up trumps again, this time topping a list of Aussie film buffs' favourite movies. After a nationwide poll of Australians, an ABC-TV special last night delivered the verdict with Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy coming in at No. 1.
The movie by the Kiwi director, which has won a swag of Oscars and other awards, beat Gone with the Wind, Star Wars and Pulp Fiction for the title.
Lord of the Rings was followed by Amelie, the 2001 comedy about a innocent Parisian girl; the 1982 adventure flick Blade Runner, starring Harrison Ford; and The Shawshank Redemption starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. Not seen Blade Runner myself, but could watch Shawshank Redenption over and over...loved it! I'm a bit pissed that Green Mile didn't make it.
Troubled teenager Donnie Darko, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, is still a hero, polling at No. 5 on the list, and sci-fi proved it still has power with Aussies voting Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope as their sixth favourite flick.
Quentin Tarantino's drama Pulp Fiction made seventh spot. I am so glad this one made it, a definate favorite of mine.

Whether Princess Mary had anything to do with it is questionable, but Aussies voted the 1987 fantasy The Princess Bride as their eighth top movie.
Gone with the Wind proved it was anything but that, with the epic coming in at No. 9. The 1939 classic is the oldest film in the list.
The Brad Pitt thriller Fight Club, one of the most hated and loved films of the 1990s, rounded out the top 10.
All in all, only 2 of my favorite movies made it.....can't stand Lord of the Rings Or Star Wars, loathed Gone With the Wind too. So my friends, what's your favorite movies?

till next time, Michelle.
