Thursday Thoughts

Late today, late out of bed, late to school for "A" too.
It's the weather that's thrown us into confusion. Whilst the days are reaching 29C ( 82F), the evenings are cooling down to 19C, fabulous Autnum weather, though foreign to us in the tropics. "A" is wearing winter pj's, complaining her bedroom is cool, and i'm avoiding early morning and late night showers because it's freezing when i get out!!
It was very eery last night. I turned the bedroom lamp and television off after watching the late news, it was the first time in nearly 6 months, the air conditioning and ceiling fans were not in use. They don't make an overly loud noise, but a noise that fades into the background once used to it. As i lay in bed, i tried to listen for sounds.......anything. No waves crashing, the sea was still, no curlews screeching,no gecko's fighting, no possums fighting over fruit, nothing, it was silent everywhere. As hard as i tried, i heard nothing. It took me ages to fall asleep as i strained my ears. It must be unimaginable to those who live in built up areas, theres always something going on, whether it be cars passing, trains or even just faint background noise. For me, it was a heavenly way to fall asleep.
