Part 2
Following on from yesterday i just wanted to express my personal opinion a little more.I don't know if she is guilty or innocent. I have studied her body language and facial movements as have others. Many of my colleauges believe she expresses her innocence, i by watching, believe she expresses her guilt.
I do know, if the evidence the prosecuting team had was put forward here, the case would never got through the front door.
I also believe that the Australian media helped Schapelle without knowing, recieve a much lighter sentence. The amount of exposure has been phenomenal considering we have so many more in other Asian prisons.
I do know, her mother and sister etc will make a fortune from this trial/ordeal. There are magazine deals already signed. Granted, some of the money will go to fund the defence team needed for appeals, however the Australian government has now put forward 2 of the best Queens' counsels in the country to help free her.
I know that to grant clemency to Schapelle will mean her having to plead guilty to all 3 charges........i wonder if it will come to this?
Schapelle could have recieved death by firing squad. What she recieved was 20 years and a 14,000 fine. Not bad considering past verdicts. One needs to remember, that the Bali judicary have never found anyone innocent of drug trafficking. 20 years is a very lean sentence.
There are many things we'll never know about this case, i know there was evidence that was classed as inadmissable. I know that the amount of cannabis fitted the exact dimensions of the body board bag.
Bottom line is this. If you travel to other countries and are accused of committing a crime you have to wear the consequences FULL STOP! I remember when 2 girls were allegedly raped here by 2 American Naval men, the men were allowed to leave here and go back to the States, the trial came around, the men never appeared, Australia now has a bench warrant out for their arrest if they ever come back. America would never ever let anyone get away with this kind of stuff happening there. They are clever enough to have treaties signed to allow them to take control. If an Australian alledgedly raped an American girl, you think we'd get them back here.......LIKE HELL............look at David Hicks!!!
You have to respect the country you travel to's laws. If they have draconian ones such as Indonesia so be it, its no secret they like Germany and France have inquisitorial justice systems...don't traffic drugs, the signs are everywhere, as are the penalties. It's their country, it means a hill of beans wether we agree or not.
I wonder wether the "Bali 9" will be so lucky as Schapelle. The Bali 9 are 9 aussies who trafficked ( strapped to their bodies) mega amounts of heroin, worth millions. They were caught just before boarding a plane from Bali to Australia. This is where the death penalty issue comes in. I don't like the death penalty. Not for the reasons you may suspect, i don't like it because i think its an easy way out. You see for me, i like the slow torture, just as those found guilty have inflicted on innocents. It has its advantages too, you see if new evidence comes to light, those found guilty of the crime are still alive and be worthy of the States apologies! $$$$$$$$$$$$ think of the compensation.
Look at Scott Peterson and other violent pricks who hurt children, destroying their innocence, ruining their lives, harming the elderly who are too old in many circumstances to protect themselves. I want these bastards to pay for ever. Every day, peel the skin of their dicks back and drown in it in salt...make em suffer. Make these guys work 80 hr weeks in prison, and donate all their money to victims of crime. Break a new bone in their body every day. Death penalty is the easy way out. Too quick, over in a flash.
