Tax Schmacks

It's tax time down under. Our financial year comes to an end at the end of June, the new financial year begins July 1st. Wage & salary earners usually have till the end of October to lodge their tax, those with businesses have much longer.
One thing that really annoy's me this time of year is the commercials on television, relating to the public and the amount of tax return they will recieve. A local car dealership here in town is telling everyone to come in because they have brand new cars just waiting for YOU to spend your tax return on! A whitegoods company is also offering new plasma televisions, washing machines and freezers, just in time to coincide with YOUR tax return!
Now, i don't know about anyone else, but i never get back $20,000 to spend on a new car, or $6000 to buy a plasma tv. Hell, i don't even get back enough to pay my accountant!! Australia is one of the highest taxed nations in the world, how on earth does anyone recieve this kinda money in their tax return and if you do, tell me your secret!!
